about

Our Approach

Many companies have a mission statement. Whilst we have no objections to these, they are only effective if all employees abide by them.

Our approach is slightly different. We refer to the three Es – which stand for Experience, Education and Ethics. We believe that only if all three are in place do clients get the best possible service.

You can see from our mugshots that we are all well over 21! Andrew and Mike have been Financial Advisers since the late 1970s – so plenty of experience.

In addition all three of us have undertaken periods of study and passed examinations beyond those required by the regulator. All of us also undertake regular continuing professional development. That takes care of education.

So, that just leaves ethics. How can we demonstrate that we behave ethically? Well, since 2008 we’ve been sending new clients a short customer care questionnaire when we complete our first piece of business with them. Many clients have returned these and not only have they ranked us highly in answer to the six questions we’ve asked, but have added notes complimenting us on our service. Others have recommended us to friends, relatives or work colleagues. There are now over 240 of these questionnaires which are available for inspection at our Northampton office.

    Our Services

Michael Forward Dip PFS, Cert SMP

Michael’s early career was spent at Halifax Building Society where he received a good grounding in mortgage underwriting. He left there in 1979 to become a mortgage broker. Whilst he has also spent some time as a sales manager running a team of mortgage advisors, he has been involved in mortgage broking ever since. In addition to ‘ordinary’ mortgages he also arranges lifetime mortgages [a sort of equity release], second mortgages, bridging loans and buy-to-let mortgages.

When not at work he enjoys walking and tennis. He spends time in the summer as a cricket umpire locally and also follows test matches. During the winter he regularly goes with his son to watch Northampton Saints. He is married with two grown-up children.

    Andrew Smith Dip PFS

With over 30 years’ experience as an Independent Financial Adviser, Andrew is well served to provide comprehensive and friendly advice on all aspects of pensions and retirement planning, and he is also a qualified pension transfer specialist. He is married with three daughters, and in his spare time enjoys most sports and is a county veteran table-tennis player.

    Heidi Spencer CeMAP, CeRER, MLIBF

Heidi has been working in a customer facing role since leaving school in 1997.  She understands the importance of putting her clients’ needs at the forefront of her advice.  She offers easy to understand advice on all residential mortgages including buy-to-lets.

Passionate about protection, Heidi also provides advice for life assurance, critical illness and income protection, alongside general insurance products too.

Heidi is a fully qualified and experienced broker and is used to dealing with challenging scenarios and thrives on complex cases.  She is great with first-time buyers too; she remembers what it is like purchasing your first home.  She also has experience with shared ownership and the Help-To-Buy Equity Loan scheme.

Heidi provides a choice of face-to-face and virtual appointments at times to suit clients’ busy lives, no matter where you may be located, in the UK.

When not working Heidi enjoys time with her family and friends, walking her dog Lola and travelling the world, working down her bucket list, one trip at a time.
